One week over…

Hi everyone,

Well the V-Strom and I have finished our first week together, and its been great to experience what this bike has to offer. Its so comfortable, and it sounds so good.  I was looking at the Suzuki SV650 series at one point and the V-Strom shares the same engine, wrapped up in a more user friendly (for me) package.   I’ve always loved the sound of  a V-twin engine ….whether its in a cruiser, Ducati or other road bike…..and now I have one and I love it.

The other thing that is available now that I have a motorcycle, is the accessories.  With the scooter there wasn’t a lot that could be done other than exhaust and gearing mods, but with the Vstrom there is an abundance of bits available…..(one day!!)

One of the riders on the ADVRider forum has gone to the extreme of creating this V-Strom that now looks more like a super-motard style bike…..(It shows what can be done with some creativity…..and a spare parts catalogue.)

So what was the rest of the week like?   We had our Grafton trips Monday and Tuesday, and on Tuesday morning the traffic up to the bridge was bumper to bumper, so its was a great introduction to riding in that environment….(despite the head shaking from the guy on the BMW R1200R behind me)….I thought I did a good job, didn’t stall the bike and managed to get up the hill and over the bridge quite ok.  Wednesday we went to Maclean and then the rest of the week it was short trips to the tiny office by the water…..but the smile never ends, no matter how far we are riding!!!

Today’s cool two-wheeled discovery is the NCR M16 – no it’s not some new piece of military hardware, its the “Milona 16”, the two-wheeled missile created by the people at NCR in Italy.

What they have done is taken the Ducati Desmocedici RR, (which in standard form is a MotoGP replica), shipped it around the corner to their mad scientist workshop in Bologna – and made it lighter, more powerful and faster – (its a bit like “Deep Blue Sea” and the modified Mako Sharks…….“What does an eight thousand pound mako shark with a brain the size of a flat head V8 engine and no natural predators think about”?)…….sorry, got a bit side-tracked there…..

So with 200+ horsepower on tap in a machine that that has a dry weight of only 145kg, you can imagine that its going to have some serious performance.  And the price???  If you have to ask, you can’t afford it!!!  And the people who buy this thing won’t care what it costs anyway!!

So behold the beauty, the style and absolutely sexiness of the NCR M16…..a bike described by its creators as the product of “Art, Passion and Technology fused together to create the most exclusive motorcycle in the world”

So I hope you all have a great weekend and look forward to the week ahead, and enjoy your time on two wheels……

before I leave, I read the foloowing quotes the other day and thought they were pretty good….

“98% of all Harleys ever sold are still on the road. The other 2% made it home.”

“People are more violently opposed to fur than leather because it’s safer to harass rich women than motorcycle gangs.”

ps -why are you still here reading…..(ok, finish reading, and then Get on your bike and get out there!!!!!!)
