12 month countdown begins….

I thought that considering its now 12 months until I swing my leg over a Harley Davidson Street Glide in Chicago and head off on the 3945 km (2451 miles) along “The Mother Road” to Los Angeles.

It really hasn’t totally sunken in that I’m doing it yet, and it probably won’t until I’ve actually booked the rental bike and flights etc…but I’m still really excited and so I thought I’d start to share that excitement with all of you.

So for today’s episode, I thought that I’d start with the bike I’m planning to ride.

Harley Davidson Street Glide

As stated on the Street Glide page of the H-D website –

“With style and long distance comfort, this stripped-down bike is made to eat miles!”

And thats what I plan to do….eat up lots of them during the 15 day journey. And why did I chose the Street Glide? Of all the H-D touring models, its the one that I think looks the best, and it provides all of the comfort and style for a long distance trip, as well as being not too heavy, it has Brembo brakes, ABS…and it has cruise control and a premium Harman/Kardon Advanced Audio System…what’s not too like about THAT!

And with a custom pain job, like all Harley’s, its sexy!!

The plan is to one day own a Street Glide…the ultra sexy Softail will remain, but for longer distance rides, this is the one.
